Program Notes-
There is something special about a “child-like” wonder. Though we talk about this idea as a society a lot, what does it actually mean? “Kineti~scence” explores this idea of wonder and imagination through virtuosic flourishes with saxophones. The title sprouts from a combination of two words: kinetic and luminescence. As youth, we tend to have boundless kinetic energy and excitement for what life holds (just ask our parents...) which can gradually dim as we mature. The luminescence is the light and optimism that we have for the world. In a time where the news and world events can easily propel us to darkness, how can we stay luminescent in our outlook? The youthful spirit of optimism, growth, and kineticism binds this gesturally kinetic and visceral work.
