The Dunham/McCarthy Quintet, co-led by vibraphonist Ben Dunham and bassist Aidan McCarthy, maximize every musical moment through their vibrant, adventurous improvisational spirits while propelling the storied jazz tradition forward.  Throughout the early stages of their respective careers, they have worked with prominent artists such as Aron!, Etienne Charles, Jazzmeia Horn, John Daversa, and Camille Thurman.  Between both bandleaders, they have received multiple Downbeat Magazine Awards, participated in festivals such as Jazz Aspen Snowmass and the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, and have performed at venues across America and Asia.

     Their newest project Before We Go, brings their original, playful yet mature voices to life while paying homage to the classics of the idiom.  Featuring Melvin Butler, Renato Diz, and Jacob Smith, the record demonstrates the Quintet’s dynamic interplay and courageous exploration.  The album, recorded amidst the co-leaders’ last few days living in Miami, is inspired by the joy and fellowship in creating spontaneous, off the cuff music with friends and collaborators near and dear to the heart.
